Matt Callison
Matt Callison has a unique ability to combine Chinese medicine with sports medicine is reflected in his excellent reputation in this field. This is especially evident in his international certification program, Sports Medical Acupuncture. He also published several articles in the Journal of Chinese Medicine on acupuncture and tibia stress syndromes as well as sports-related muscle tension headaches. In addition, Matt Callison is also the creator of the Motor Point and Acupuncture Meridian Chart as well as author of four publications, The Treatment of Orthopedic Disorders, The Motor Point Manual, Motor Point Index and in the press: the Sports Medicine Acupuncture Textbook. He earned his bachelor’s degree in sports with a major in sports medicine in 1985 from San Diego State University. He worked in sports medicine for about 6 years at the Alvarado Sports Medicine Clinic and Scripps Hospital, La Jolla. In 1991, Callison graduated from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine with a master’s degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine, where the class he created is still taught: Treatment of orthopaedic disorders. Callison is the supervisor of acupuncture interns at the San Diego Sports Medicine RIMAC Center at the University of California, where they blend Chinese and sports medicine within a western environment. He is well-known for his work with professional athletes and NFL players.
