Sat Bir Sing Khalsa
is a full-time yoga researcher.
After completing his doctorate in human physiology and neuroscience at the University of Toronto, Sat Bir Khalsa began his research in neuroscience, biological rhythms, sleep and sleep disorders.
As a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher, he focused his research on the effectiveness of yoga. He has conducted research in public schools to find out how yoga can help with insomnia, stress and anxiety disorders.
Sat Bir Khalsa is now not only Research Director of the Kundalini Research Institute, but also a research associate at the Benson Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. At Harvard Medical School he has been teaching an elective course in Mind Body Medicine since 2005. He is also the author of the e-book Your Brain on Yoga at Harvard Medical School.
Sat Bir Khalsa works with other yoga researchers, such as the International Association of Yoga Therapists, on an international level with the aim of furthering research into yoga therapy. In this context he also coordinates the annual symposium on yoga research.
